Leaders call for unity to foster development and peace

Leaders from Tana River county have called for political cohesion and peace as a vital path for the region's development.
Speaking to the residents of Tana River on Thursday,September 19, 2024, politicians and other government leaders insisted on the importance of working as a team to overcome challenges to pave a way that fosters progress for Tana River people.
Principal Secretary for the State Department of Cabinet Affairs,Idris Dokota, said there is need for unity among leaders at all levels.
He called on the leaders from the county to come together for the sake of the region's advancement and development.
Dakota emphasized that division among political leaders is one of the major obstacles to development in the county.
"We are asking our leaders,from the governor,senators,MPs, to stick together,Tana River will move forward." Dokota said.
"The big problem here is that we are not united,if the leaders at the national level are united ,so if we unite,is there a mistake?" He asked.
Member of Parliament for Bura Constituency Yakub Adow, echoed Dokota's sentiments highlighting the significance of peace as a qualification for any form of development.
The MP urged the residents to avoid getting embroiled in political disputes that do not have any benefits to their daily lives.
"Before any development, the biggest development peace.if you see us who are political,maybe we are involved in exchange of words and sparks of insults,do not join us .Just live safely." MP said.
" I have my salary,the governor has his salary, the MCAs and the speaker have their salaries.No one will share their salaries with you." He added.
Again,MP Adow urged leaders to take responsibility for maintaining peace and discipline with the society.He called them to come together to negotiate and prioritize unity that will drive forward the development efforts of the county.
"You as a leader are a leader of the society. I beg you to mantain peace with this community and bring the leaders to the table so that we can achieve the development of Tana River County together," stated Bura MP.
Tana River has faced with many challenges of development and social cohesion.
