Harambee stars climbs 6 places up in Latest FIFA rankings

National men's football team Harambee Stars moved six places up in the latest world FIFA ranking released on Thursday. 

The national team moved up from position 108 to 102 worldwide while moved to position 22 among African teams.

Kenya gained 11 points to increase their points build-up from 1,197 to 1,208 points. 

The achievement comes following their recent success in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Namibia and Zimbabwe.

Stars won 2-1 over Namibia on September 10th and a goalless draw against Zimbabwe on September 6th, in Group J qualifiers. 

Stars jointly lead Group J with Cameroon on four points but are ahead on goal difference and will battle the five-time African champions on October 7. 

Morocco are the highest-ranked African nation in position 14 followed by Senegal at 21, Egypt and African Champions Ivory Coast close the top five of African teams ranked at 31 and 33 worldwide, respectively. 

Congo DRC is the highest ranked East African team at the 58th position with Uganda coming at Position 90 while Tanzania are ranked at 110, eight positions behind Kenya. 

World champions Argentina remain at the top of the standing with 1889.02 points, and France 1851.92 points.

Spain are in third place with 1836.42 points, followed by England (4th), Brazil (5th), and Belgium (6th).

Netherlands, Portugal, Colombia and Italy close the last four of best 10 respectively.
