Kangema youth 3rd cohort benefit from digital training programme

The third cohort of Kangema youths received ICT knowledge, entrepreneurial skills, and life skills from the Member of Parliament's office, Kangema youth affairs office and Dot Kenya.

The two-month digital training program aims to equip the third cohort of Kangema youths with the necessary skills and knowledge to fully utilize online opportunities.

Peter Kihungi, area Member of Parliament, reports that around 200 youths have benefited from the program, with the first cohort already earning from online jobs.

 “Our first cohort had 45 youths, the second had 42 youths, while this third cohort has 25 youths who will get the training courtesy of our NG-CDF,” he said.

 Meanwhile, some past cohorts have already capitalized on digital opportunities and are earning from online jobs.

The Legislator, noted the training is meant to also equip the youths with entrepreneurship skills in readiness for the governments konza city programme that is aimed at establishing digital hubs across the country.

He highlighted that Konza city promises 100 computers to youth, enabling unlimited digital jobs and curbing menaces like drug and alcohol abuse, insecurity, and crime.

One of the trainees, Ann Njoki expressed joy at the opportunity to undergo computer studies, despite financial constraints, despite having completed her form four studies.

The beneficiaries now plan to utilize the program to enhance their future by positively engaging with digital platforms and utilizing available online jobs for a livelihood.
