Businessman and Kiambu Parliamentary aspirant Kariri Njama has ditched Jubilee Party after controversially missing the party’s nomination certificate.
In a statement on Saturday night, Njama noted that after consultations with Kiambaa residents, he has opted to contest the seat as an independent candidate.
He claimed the panel selected to pick aspirants had selected him, but some influential leaders in the party conspired to ensure he does not get the certificate.
“We wish to express our displeasure with the outcome of the Jubilee party nomination and subsequent awarding of the certificate to the undeserving candidate contrary to recommendations of the panel of eminent persons who unanimously recommended for my nominations as the best candidate for Kiambaa Parliamentary seat.
“Based on the fore goings, I have consulted widely among my supporters and despite my unreserved commitment and loyalty to the Jubilee Party, we have resolved to; tender my resignation with immediate effect as member of the party… Contest for Kiambaa Parliamentary seat as an independent candidate,” Njama’s statement read in part.
On Friday, Jubilee through its Director of Elections Kanini Kega awarded Damaris Wambui the party’s certificate to face off with among others incumbent John Njuguna Kawanjiku.

"Breaking News...Ready to go and collect the Jubilee party nomination certificate, our God is the living God.
"Good morning Kiambaa...it is Today...let us meet there" he said in a statement on Friday morning.
