Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has weighed in on the decision by Murang’a Woman Rep Sabina Chege to quit elective politics, arguing that her decision was influenced by the confusion in Azimio la Umoja led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga. He expressed empathy and appeared to suggest that Sabina’s decision may negatively impact her political career. “My sweetheart, ile kizunguzungu ya Uhuru na Raila ilikubeba tu hivyo? Pole sana,” Sudi posted on Facebook. On Saturday April 23, Sabina Chege announced that she will not defend her seat in the upcoming August 09, 2022 general election. The Woman Rep said she will also not vie for any political seat. She made the announcement on her official social media pages. "Finally the Holy Spirit has spoken, I will not be vying in any elective position in Murang'a County. I will concentrate with National politics in Azimio la Umoja Council," she posted on Facebook. Other members include president Uhuru Kenyatta, ODM party leader Raila Odinga, Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka, Narc-Kenya's Martha Karua, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, KANU chairman Gideon Moi, NARC leader Charity Ngilu, DAP-K party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi and Taveta MP Naomi Shaban, among others. Chege was elected Murang'a County Women Representative in 2013, before succesfully defending her position in 2017. Her supporters had hoped that she will defend her seat or join the Murang'a gubernatorial race. A section of those who reacted on her post wished her well, predicting that she will be handed the post of a Cabinet Secretary if Azimio forms the next government.
