Machakos County gubernatorial aspirant Nzioka Waita on Saturday visited Kathiani; the home turf of his main competitor Wiper’s Wavinya Ndeti and launched a scathing attack against the later.
Addressing residents in the company of his running mate, Florence Mwangangi, Waita told Kathiani locals to try something new, arguing that Ndeti has unsuccessfully contested the seat twice.
“One of my competitors has contested for the Machakos gubernatorial seat for two consecutive elections without winning. It is time they accepted the will of the people,” he was quoted.
He equated Wavinya to a drug that has been on the shelve for ten years, arguing that such a drug is no longer suitable for human consumption.
"Nimeambiwa ati nisikanyage Kathiani ati Kathiani kuna mwenyewe… Kama mtu amesimama 2013 akaanguka akasimama 2017 akaanguka. Sasa 2022 amerudi jameni ata dawa miaka kumi si huwa inaexpire,” he was quoted by KBC.

He promised to deliver and transform Machakos if elected next governor, adding that his experience in the public and private sector makes him the best candidate for the job.
The Machakos gubernatorial race is one of the contests to watch out for as it features several political heavyweights including; Waita, Ndeti, UDA Party Chairman Johnson Muthama and current Deputy Governor Francis Maliti.
Machakos County is considered a Wiper stronghold but Governor Alfred Mutua’s Maendeleo Chap Chap has been giving it a run for its money.
In the last two general elections, Governor Mutua won the gubernatorial seat defeating Wavinya who was fronted by Wiper.
