Kenya Kwanza MP calls CS Ndung'u a 'crybaby'

By Peter Ochieng

Member of Parliament (MP) aligned to the Kenya Kwanza alliance has reffered to Treasury Cabinet Secretary (CS) Prof. Njuguna Ndung'u as a 'crybaby,' owing to his percieved inability to help president William Ruto stabilise the country's economy.

Mbeera North MP Geoffrey Roku, speaking during Citizen TV's Daybreak show on Thursday accused the CS of lacking solid management skills to help the president succeed.

He faulted the CS for, on most occassions informing Kenyans about the country's economic crisis, instead of offering solutions.

The lawmaker urged the CS to resign, if the going is tough for him.

“If Treasury CS Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u is unable to do his job, he should resign because one of his key roles as CS Treasury is liability management of the country. We will not allow him to fail the president. It is reckless for the Treasury CS to wake up and tell the nation that we are in a serious crisis. Tell us we have a serious crisis but at the same time tell us what you are doing about the crisis," he said.

"Give us concrete steps which you are taking for the country to come out of the crisis, tell us what you have done for the last year. All the time he is a crybaby, this country is not about being a crybaby, it must be driven forward by innovative thinking,” added MP Ruku.

On his part, Tongaren MP John Chikati also affiliated to Kenya Kwanza accused the CS of incompetence, related to the delay in disbursement of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) to facilitate bursaries for learners.

The MP elected on the Ford Kenya party, said they intend to impeach the CS. “We will impeach him very well, he is not performing. This is not the first time that Prof. Ndung’u has done that.

Last year it was war between Parliament and the Treasury before CDF was released.

We as Ford Kenya MPs, are going to initiate signatures immediately for his removal. One year down the line he has shown incompetence and has given room to people to criticize the president," said the Ford Kenya Secretary General.

However, Azimio coalition secretary for political affairs Fred Okango, who was also on show laughed off the new push to impeach the CS.

"The Kenya Kwanza MPs want to impeach some CSs and yet they are the ones who endorsed them without caring to look at the suitability, competency and personal integrity of some of these people they are now wanting to remove from office…why are they crying now?" Okango stated.

He said as Azimio, they are more than will to help Kenya Kwanza remove any CS who is incompetent and unsuitable to hold office.
