Pedestrian Killed in an Afternoon Accident at Eldama Ravine town

An elderly woman died on Wednesday afternoon after being hit by a private vehicle while crossing the road in Eldama Ravine town.
Confirming the incident, the Koibatek Sub-County Police Commander Mr Joseph Ongaya said the lady was pronounced dead on arrival at Eldama Ravine Specialists Hospital which is just 20 metres from the scene of the accident.
“The victim was crossing the road between Africa Fuels petrol station and Taidy`s Hotel when a dark Subaru Forester of registration number KCT 755U which was heading towards Nakuru hit her,” said Ongaya.
The police boss said it was sad that the victim died despite the effort from the medical personnel from the nearby hospital to save her life.
He added that the traffic officers from the Eldama Ravine police station visited and processed the accident scene and commandeered the vehicle to the police station to record a statement.
Ongaya has urged motorists and pedestrians using the section of the road between Kobil petrol station and KeNNha weighbridge to exercise caution as the area is prone to accidents.
According to an eyewitness at the scene, the lady was crossing the road when the tragedy occurred.
The witness added that the driver of the car tried to avoid hitting her but unfortunately, the side of the car hit her with a strong impact that broke the car's side mirror.
The police transferred the body to Eldama Ravine Sub-County Hospital mortuary as they traced the relatives of the deceased.
