The aggreaved residents made the move, alleging that the government has failed to solve the insecurity issue in the region.

The government has deployed contingents of security personnel to the region, however, bandit attacks continue to occur.
Area residents have been calling for the use of National Police Reservists(NPR) with majority of the residents claiming the NPR knows the terrain of the land. They claim bandits takes advantage of the terrain as some security personnel are not familiar with the area.
In 2018 the government withdrew the services of NPR on allegations that they were behind the frequent cattle rustling that was witnessed in the region.
A section of residents has been calling for military intervention, claiming the operation will help in curbing the menace.
