A group of Kikuyu elders who attended a meeting hosted by President Uhuru at State House Nairobi have denied reports that they discussed an alleged impeachment plot against the head of state.
The Kiama Kiama elders stated that Uhuru did not make any remarks concerning the issue. The leaders dismissed reports that the president detailed to them how Deputy President William Ruto had allegedly planned to overthrow him.
“We are disappointed to hear the reports being dispersed concerning the meeting, especially that these individuals were not present at the meeting. I was the master of ceremony in that said meeting and I must say that no such details were mentioned nor discussed during the meeting. The President did not either speak on the matter,” the Kiama Kiama patron claimed.

He further stated that the elders were not summoned to State House but instead had sought an audience with the President.
“It was I as a patron who sought an audience with Uhuru, who happened to be the chairman and not as it had been stated before,” the elder clarified.
The elders however issued a stern warning to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) flag bearer to respect the president and avoid using offensive language.
During the press conference, Jubilee Party Secretary, Jeremiah Kioni confirmed the details of the meeting and said that Ruto and his associates should stop demeaning the president and his family.
“The main issue of UDA and Ruto, insulting the president and his mother should cease and if the citizens don’t see the effects of this, then we must be heading in the wrong direction,” Kioni said.
Ruto has clearly denied the claims regarding the impeachment and blamed ODM leader Raila Odinga for spreading false information. The former premier also distanced himself from the news stating that he had no knowledge of such meetings and impeachment agreement.
