President Uhuru Kenyatta is this Thursday, March 31, 2022, expected to meet Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga and his Wiper counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka. Reports indicate that the meeting will be used to among others iron out issues within the Azimio la Umoja coalition, which Kalonzo joined earlier this month. It is expected that the Head of State; who has taken a central role in the Azimio la Umoja coalition formation would use the meeting to clear gray areas in an agreement that Kalonzo and Raila signed. The agreement has been contentious, especially after Kalonzo said he had no idea what he signe, after days after signing the agreement at KICC. Another issue to be addressed is the name of the coalition. After joining Azimio with his One Kenya Alliance principles, the former Vice President insisted that it should be Azimio-One Kenya. He has even threatened to quit the coalition if the One Kenya part is not included. This will be the second time Uhuru will be meeting Kalonzo within a month. Days after joining Raila's bid, Kalonzo and Kanu party leader Gideon Moi hosted the president, in what political pundits said was an attempt to avert a fall out, with questions raised over the agreement signed. "It was my absolute pleasure to host Uhuru at my Nairobi residence. We are Azimio - One Kenya and we will support the Right Honorable former Prime Minister in the forthcoming August General Election," Kalonzo stated after the meeting. But since joining Azimio, Kalonzo has not made any appearance in the coalition's campaign. There has been unverified reports claiming that the Wiper Party leader has demanded to be named the coalition's running mate before he joins the campaign trail. When welcoming Kalonzo to Raila's team, Uhuru, who remains the Jubilee party leader, expressed confidence that the former Prime Minister will not shortchange them. "I'm certain that when he will take office, he will not leave his people behind. When the government will be formed , we will hear the likes of Kalonzo, KANU's Gideon Moi, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and the rest," Uhuru stated during the unveiling of Raila as the Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate held earlier this month.
