Eight-time Grammy Award-winning music icon, Lauryn Hill will headline this year’s Walker Town Day Two event in Nairobi, later this month.
The event, organised by East African Breweries Limited (EABL), through its Johnnie Walker brand, will take place at the Laureate Gardens, Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani, on September 28th and 29th.
Kenya’s very own hip-hop sensation, Nyashinski will also perform at the event.
The appearance will be Hill's first major performance in Kenya since 2019, when she headlined a concert in Kenya as part of her world tour of her album the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
Josephine Katambo, Marketing Manager for Scotch & Reserve Portfolio at EABL, said they are thrilled to host Lauryn Hill.
“We are incredibly excited to host Ms. Lauryn Hill’s return to Kenya, especially at such a prestigious event as Walker Town," she noted.
"Her legendary status in music aligns perfectly with Johnnie Walker's values of boldness, progressiveness, and excellence. This first ever two-day celebration will not only bring together iconic performances but also offer a rich cultural experience through art and fashion for both music and whisky enthusiasts.”
The legendary musician is celebrated for her pivotal role as a pioneering member of the Fugees, globally recognised for her trailblazing contributions to hip-hop, R&B, and soul.
Adding to the excitement, Day One of Walker Town will be headlined by Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, REMA, Kenya’s Bien and rising British talent Adree.
Walker Town events across the country have become cultural highlights since their inception, drawing thousands of attendees in cities like Nairobi, Meru, and Nakuru.
Tickets for the event are available for purchase on Ticketyetu and Ticketsasa.com, coming in a range of packages tailored to different preferences.
