Late Cheptegei's boyfriend succumbs to burn injuries

Dickson Ndiema, the boyfriend to the late Ugandan Athlete Rebecca Cheptegei, has passed away at the Moi Teaching and Refferal Hospital.

Reports Indicate that Ndiema succumbed on Monday, 9 September, 2024 at night, where he was receiving treatment for first degree burns at the Intensive care Unit of the MTRH. 

According to the hospital, Ndiema sustained 30% burns on his body in the aftermath of the arson attack inflicted to Rebecca Cheptegei on September 1st.

Ndiema was accused of setting his girlfriend Cheptegei, on Fire at their home in Trans Nzoia county following a heated land dispute.

Cheptegei lost her life to the burn injuries on September 5th at the MTRH where doctors revealed that the athlete suffered 80% burns on her body and efforts to revive her turned futile.

Sources reveal that in the event of the Arson attack, The fire caught up with Ndiema causing serious burn injuries. 

Cheptegei's death sparked sorrow and outrage as calls for an end to Domestic and Gender-Based Violence continue. 

Cheptegei's family has revealed that burial plans are underway with her final bow set to take place at her home country, Uganda on Saturday.
