Leaders call for peace as Azimio demos begins

Rachunyo East sub-county Deputy County Commissioner Mr. Job Kemey has called for peaceful coexistence during the Azamio ant-government demonstrations that began on Wednesday

The DCC urged leader in the sub county to embrace peace “Let’s reach out to key leaders and other peace stakeholders such as elders, bodaboda, the business community, the clergy politicians and many others to combine effort to pass message of peace,” he said

The DCC urged leaders from all walks to shun demonstrations, distractions, or disturbances that are likely to cause loss of lives or property or disrupt normal activities of people.

He said much responsibility is placed on the leaders saying the loss of lives or property in the sub-county will directly or indirectly be on them as leaders for their failure of commission or omission to prevent it

“Let’s continue to preach peace and live in harmony as we have always done,” he said

Meanwhile, the Azamio demos have seen some roads like Kendubay -Oyugis remain blocked although the major towns in Rachuonyo region Oyugis ,Kendubay and Kadongo remained calm whole morning with shops open except with low traffic as only boda boda operators are enjoying booming business ferrying passengers from one town another.

Nuhu Omollo Masoud, the supreme council for Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) Secretary Homa Bay County who is also a peace crusader displayed banners early morning in Oyugis town calling for peace.

The banner carried writing from the Quran and the Bible directed to the mothers with pictures of the mother of President William Ruto, mother of former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ida Odinga wife of Azimio leader Raila Odinga

“Dear mothers, kindly wake up and help our dear nation Kenya: speak the truth for a better healing,” the message read.
