Leaders in Mandera pushing for By-election in Banissa Constituency

Leaders from Mandera County, have asked the Independent, Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), to expedite the By-election in the Banisa Constituency to fast-track development projects in the area.

The Constituency has been without a Member of Parliament (MP) since the unfortunate passing on of, Kullow Maalim Hassan, earlier this year.

Member of Parliament for Mandera North, Bashir Abdullahi, emphasized the situation's urgency, stating that further delays would make the area lag behind in development.

Abdullahi disclosed that area MPs have garnered the support of fellow pastoralist MPs, to ensure that the CEO of IEBC gazettes the elections.

Mandera Governor, Mohamed Khalif, reassured Banissa residents that their Constituency would soon have its rightful representative.

Mandera Senator, Ali Roba, confirmed that as individual leaders and as a party, UDM would actively assist in expediting and pressurizing the IEBC, to conduct the Banissa By-election.
