M-Pesa services restored

Mobile money, M-pesa services have been restored.

The services were down from around 11am, when customers reported being unable to make transactions.

They were restored at about 1.30pm. "SA93IJZCLX Confirmed. Your account balance was: M-PESA Account: Ksh........ on 9/1/24 at 1:22 PM. Dial *234*0# OK to check your FULIZA LIMIT & complete your M-PESA transaction," was the message received by this writer when checking balance.

Earlier, the message was, "M-PESA is currently unable to process your request. Please try again later."

Millions of Kenyans depend on the giant mobile money platform for money related issues, every minute.

Transactions on M-pesa include sending money, checking balance, direct M-pesa withdrawal, bank withdrawal, purchasing airtime, checking balance and making payments such as school fees, fare and making purchases among others.

Initially, customers using both the M-pesa sim toolkit and App faced similar challenges.

“MPESA is experiencing delays, and is not able to accept your request. Please wait for 10 minutes before trying again," was the message received by other people.

“Dear customer, MPESA is currently undergoing maintenance and is unable to process your request. We apologise for the inconvenience," yet another message read.

By press time, Safaricom company which runs M-pesa had not issued a statement on what made the services to go down.
