Chepalungu MP cautions residents against flood-related disasters

Chepalungu Member of Parliament, Victor Koech, has cautioned residents of Bomet County against falling victim to disasters emanating from flooding.

Koech also known as Mandazi who was speaking, Monday, in Bomet Town, said the ongoing El- Nino rains, have caused flooding in various parts of Bomet.

He said several water sources, including streams and rivers have burst their banks, while many bridges have been submerged in water.

He cited a Saturday accident where a bodaboda rider was swept away while crossing Kaboson bridge, saying it took efforts from members of the public to save the life of the rider, adding that his motorcycle was carried away for more than 50 meters before it was successfully recovered.

At the same time, the Legislator urged farmers to utilize the rains in planting food crops and pastures for enhanced food security.
