There was jubilation in boys' National Schools in the Gusii region after the Kisii and Nyambaria High schools in Kisii and Nyamira counties respectively excelled in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education whose results were released on Monday.
Speaking separately in their respective schools, Principal Kisii School’s Fred Mogaka and Nyambaria’s Deputy Principal Onesmus Onguti expressed their gratitude to last year’s candidates for their exemplary performance.
Mogaka said the results released by Education CS Machogu through the Ministry’s downloadable platform had shown there were 24 A’s, 84 A-, 113 B+, 127 B plain, and 109 B- and few with C+ with the least getting D+.
He applauded the stakeholders for their support including parents, the county leadership, teachers, and the Teacher Service Commission saying there was an improvement from last year’s 22 A’s.
“At least over 500 students from the school will be transiting to University and the other 44 to various middle-level colleges,” he said.
Mogaka challenged the incoming form four class to strive to post even better results in this end year's exams.
Rodney Ontiri Mokaya who achieved an A of 84 points and who wants to pursue a career in medicine hailed his teachers and parents for their unwavering support saying it went a long way in making him achieve good results.
Rodney’s father, Lenox Mokaya wished his son much more success in the future saying he had made the family proud by outdoing their expectations.
In Nyamira, Onguti said their first candidate who had attained an A plain of 84 points always topped their class since form one.
Onguti said they had expected the candidate, John Mark Olum, to achieve a good grade.
Onguti decried the challenges the school went through during the KCSE examinations period but noted that they did not deter the students from putting all their efforts into proving they were worth the good grades their school scored during the previous year.
He noted that the provisional results of 594 candidates that the school had already downloaded, were great and thanked the learners for their great performance which he said had vindicated the school from allegations of exam malpractices.
Gideon Anyone Mankone, the in charge of children's welfare at the school said he was glad about the performance and praised the former candidates for their consistency in hard work.
PTA chair, Charles Mochumbe praised God for seeing them through despite what he termed as police intimidation at the school during the examinations period.
He said the overall performance will help exonerate the school from the negative publicity it received from the previous KCSE examinations during the last exams.
