Police in Kisii have killed three gangsters whom they said had been terrorizing residents in the county and other neighbouring counties.
Speaking to the press on Thursday, Kisii Police Commander Charles Kases said they had been closely following the movement of the trio from Migori County before they were gunned down at Kerina area in Kisii South Sub County.
“We managed to recover an AK-47 rifle with 21 bullets, a Maasai sword, a Rambo knife, and a motorbike that the criminals were using to travel,” noted Kases.
He said the gun would be forwarded to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for ballistic examination to identify if it had been used in other crimes within Kisii, Migori, and Nyamira counties while the motorbike would be taken to NTSA to determine if the number plates were authentic.
Notably, Kases said members of the public were able to single out one of the gangsters whom they believed had participated in a robbery at Mora supermarket in Suneka town two months ago.
The owner of Mora supermarket, George Birundu lauded the police for tracing the criminals saying other residents would not have to endure what he and his workers went through in their hands on the 10th of July, 2023.
Birundu recalled that the thugs killed one of his watchmen and injured a worker before disappearing with hundreds of shillings from the business.
