Machakos Majority Leader refutes claims of Governor Wavinya Ndeti's detention in the UK

Majority Leader of the Machakos County Assembly, Nicholas Nzioka, has dismissed with absolute disdain the claims doing rounds on social media that Governor Wavinya Ndeti is being held in the United Kingdom over charges related to money laundering. 

Speaking at a press conference, Nzioka described the claims as baseless and meant to strike fear and confusion in the minds of the people.

"I'd like to take this opportunity to address and categorically deny recent claims circulating in the social media about Her Excellency Wavinya Ndeti, the Governor of Machakos County, being held in the United Kingdom over money laundering charges," said Nzioka. 

The Majority Leader emphasized that there was no investigation or charges against Governor Ndeti in the UK or anywhere else.

He characterised the reports as part of a vicious scheme aimed at disparaging the reputation of the governor and undermining the leadership of the county.

"We categorically state that these claims are baseless and unsubstantiated. Governor Ndeti is not under any form of detention or investigation related to money laundering or any similar charges," Nzioka added.

Nzioka also warned of the increasing misinformation being spread through social media and called on the public not to fall prey to such a campaign.

He called on the public to verify information from credible sources before accepting it as fact, cautioning them that unverified rumors would lead to panic that was uncalled for.

"This is enemy information meant to cause undue panic, confusion, and destabilization among the people of Machakos. We found this necessary to clarify and obligate the foregoing claims," he added. 

Nzioka reiterated that the county government was committed to transparency and accountability, calling upon the people to continue supporting Governor Ndeti in her efforts to lead Machakos County toward development.

Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti, who has been at the forefront in county politics, has personally been tight-lipped over the allegations. Her office has clarified that she goes on with her work as usual.

He concluded by assuring people in Machakos that the leadership in the county remains focused on their mandate and will not be swayed by rumors. "We are committed to serving the people of Machakos, and we urge everybody to disregard these baseless allegations." Said Nzioka.
