Akothee to CS Murkomen: Your work can be seen, felt
By Peter Ochieng
Musician cum business lady Ester Akoth alias Akothee has some kind words for Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen, the Cabinet Secretary (CS) in charge of roads and transport.
On Wednesday, the CS presided over Skyward Express's maiden flight from Wilson Airport, Nairobi to Migori airstrip.
Three months ago, he presided over the launch of Renegede Air's inaugural flight from Wilson Airport to Kabunde airstrip in Homabay county.
In appreciating the CS's role in the launch of the two airline's trips to the two Nyanza counties, Akothee said Murkomen's work can be seen and felt by all and sundry.
"The journey that started with a step has ended up into a marathon. Sir, your work ethic can be felt and seen. I was humbled to meet and interact with you yesterday. Let's join hands and build our Nation Kenya. Looking forward to working with you in future projects," Akothee said.
Madam Boss as she is known in entertainment circles doubles up as Migori county brand ambassador.
Murkomen said the milestones are being reached in the aviation sector, because of partnerships among various stakeholders.
"Kenya's aviation sector has been on an upward trajectory for the last one year as a result of close partnership and collaboration between the national government, county governments, aviation sector players and private investors," said the CS during the launch.
"This auspicious launch in effect makes Migori Airstrip the third airstrip, under this administration, to start receiving commercial flights after Kabunde Airstrip in Homabay county and Kakamega airstrip."
He said the government is committed to expanding the Migori Airstrip runway from the current 1.2km to 1.4km, to enable it accommodate larger aircrafts in addition to constructing a new apron, two taxiways and a modern terminal building.
He assured Kenyans of the government's resolve to upgrading more airstrips in the country to boost air connectivity, first in line being Kitale, Nanyuki, Kakamega and Ukunda.
