Nairobi Hosts the 2nd Africa Football Business Summit

The Football Foundation for Africa (FFA) has kicked off the 2nd Africa Football Business Summit in Nairobi, an annual event set to revolutionize the future of African football.

This year’s summit brought together sports business leaders, legendary players, government officials and experts from across the globe to deliberate on innovative strategies to elevate, invest and transform African Football to new heights.

FFA is an international social enterprise that seeks to drive investment in grassroots development in Africa, with the ultimate goal of creating job opportunities, and also aims to protect the foundations of African football such as talent, passion by promoting better governance of the games at all levels.

Already, the 2023 summit is poised to become the game changer for African Football business initiative focusing on key knowledge creation and dissemination systems, collaborative leadership, and progressive strategies for sustainable growth. 

Further, the summit aims to empower African nations to harness their football potential, fostering unity and development on the continent.

Speaking at the event, Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage, Principal Secretary (PS) John Ololtuaa emphasized that African soccer holds immense potential and that African Football Business Summit 2023 is a significant step towards realizing that potential. 

“It is a platform for the exchange of ideas and the creation of partnership that will drive the development of football on this continent,” stated Ololtuaa, adding that he is yearning to be part of the transformative event uniting Africans.

Federation International de Football Association (FIFA) Head of African Development Sarah Solemele while speaking at the event noted that football has power to change lives and communities.

He maintained that FIFA is committed to supporting summits like this which provide a unique opportunity to discuss innovative ways to strengthen the foundation of soccer development and governance in Africa.

“I look forward to engaging in meaningful and sustainable discussion at this event,” said Solemele.

At the same time, the Football Foundation for Africa Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Brian Wesaala emphasized the importance of knowledge sharing and collaborative leadership, saying, “Our goal is to unite the football community and foster a spirit of collaboration and together, we can create a sustainable football ecosystem that benefits all stakeholders from players and coaches to fans and administrators. This is time for Africa. We are ready and prime for a new era of success for our teams and players.”

FFA operates along four pillars, Empowering and protecting players, Creating Opportunities, the Natural Environment and Authentic partnership.
