Man commits suicide after chasing family away at night

A 38- year- old man committed suicide Monday shortly after he reportedly chased away his wife and children from their home in Kawino sub location in Homabay County.

Moses Odoyo was found hanging from the roof of his house at 8.30am according to the area assistant Chief Eric Opele.

Conforming the incident, the sub county police commander Lilies Wachira said Odoyo arrived home Monday night drunk and complaining that he had lost Sh4000 while travelling from Kisii where he run a business to home.

Wachira added that on arrival the victim picked a quarrel with his wife and eventually chased her and the children away. They sought refuge in the mother’s house.

“Tuesday morning, the man was found dead, his body hanging from the roof of his house,” said the police boss.

Wachira said officers have already visited the scene and the matter is under investigation.

He said the body has since been removed from the scene to Rachuonyo sub county hospital morgue awaiting postmortem.
