Man to serve two years for stealing

A Makueni court has sentenced a man to 2 years in prison for breaking into a house and stealing items worth Sh 16,000.

Appearing before the Makueni Chief Magistrate Peter Gesora, the accused David Mutisya pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing.

 The court heard that the accused committed the offence at Kikumini location in Makueni Subcounty on 8th October 2023 where he broke into the house of Duncan Ogutu and stole Sh 2,500, a C.T.C screen, a 6-kilogram gas cylinder, mobile phone button and a padlock.

In his mitigation, Mutisya pleaded for leniency saying he has young children and vowed not to repeat the offence.

“I have carefully considered the plea by the convict and noted that he is a first offender. I order that he serves 2 years imprisonment concurrently for the account of breaking and stealing,” said Gesora in his ruling.
