Governor Wavinya Ndeti fires Education CEC

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has fired the County Executive Committee Member (CEC) for Education Philip Kilonzo over incompetence.

Wavinya, in a statement released on Monday evening said the CEC was incapable of discharging his duties effectively leading to the immediate sacking.

 "I have today terminated with immediate effect the contract of ECM for education. I have reviewed his performance and have come to the conclusion that it is untenable for him to continue holding the office as the CEC Education,” read part of the statement.

The governor further noted the decision was informed by the need to uphold high standards of delivery in the county.

Dr. Consolata Mutisya who was serving at the CEC for Roads, Transport and Public Works had been reassigned to take over the education docket.

The sacking comes barely three weeks after the governor reshuffled the cabinet in a move aimed at enhancing service delivery.
