Man United lose to Rosenborg in first pre-season game

Manchester United entered their first preseason match on Monday with the hopes of turning a new leaf following the 2023–2024 English Premier League season.

Opponent, Rosenborg, a traditional Norwegian powerhouse sitting 11th in the 16-team Eliteserien league standings.

Instead, the club picked up where it left off. In the third minute of stoppage time, Rosenborg forward Noah Holm scored to give his team a 1-0 victory in Trondheim, Norway.

Erik Ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, criticized his team for their careless performance following the match.

"The result is not second. We are playing pre-season but Manchester United, there is a level," Ten Hag said after the game via Sky Sports.

"You win games. You definitely don't lose games. If you can't win, don't lose the game like we did at the end, the last second of the game." He added. 

Rosenborg beat Ten Hag 22-5, allowing Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek to make six saves.

"Let's say he got an opportunity from the team t o make a good save - because our performance as a team is not good enough," Ten Hag said.

Although they won the FA Cup, Manchester United placed eighth in the Premier League and was eliminated from the Champions League in the group stage.
