Manchester United on the verge of Champions League elimination
By Peter Ochieng
English Premier League (EPL) giants Manchester United are facing the possibility of being eliminated from the 2023/2024 EUFA Champions League tournament at the group stage.
The Red Devils lost the third group match of the campaign away to FC Copenhagen in Denmark on Wednesday night.
Despite leading 2-0 at early stages of the game courtesy of two quick fire goals from Rasmus Hojlud, Erik ten Hag's charges went down 4-3 against the homeside, largely aided by a red card to Marcus Rashford towards the end of the first half.
United previously lost to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray in group A, before beating Copenhagen 1-0 in the first leg match at Old Trafford two weeks ago.
With 3 defeats in four matches, United lie bottom of group A with three points.
Galatasaray and FC Copenhagen are on four points each, while Bayern Munich, already through to the round of 16 leads with 12 points.
Manchester United needs to collect maximum points against Galatasaray away in Turkey and at home against Bayern to stand a chance of booking a round of 16 slot, which is in itself a herculean task given the team's dismissal performances this season.
