The media council of Kenya has called out the public against rampant attacks targeting Journalists and media practitioners while conducting their duties.

In a statement released on its social media platforms on Saturday, 6 January, 2024. MCK has condemned the incident where journalists were physically assaulted while accompanying NACADA officers in a raid at the kettle bar house and grill in Nairobi.

The journalists were attacked by bodyguard while covering the raid which sought to unravel shisha smoking at the club.

MCK CEO condemned the incident demanding the attacked journalists to be compensated including their damaged tools of work by the proprietor of the club and the individual perpetrators..

"We urge the Inspector General of the National Police Service and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Kenya to ensure the perpetrators are taken to the court and justice is served." MCK stated.
