Officers from the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) have arrested a police officer for extortion charges.
Paul Kamau Mbugua, stationed at Kasarani Stadium Police Station allegedly demanded Ksh30,000 from a complainant in order to release his two brothers who had been arrested a day before for an unknown offense.
The two had been detained without their details being recorded in an occurrence Book(OB) as protocol observes.
Upon receiving complaints to the offense on Friday, EACC conducted investigations leading to the officer's arrest after receiving the demanded amount.
Mbugua was then escorted to Kilimani Police Station where he is currently being detained pending further processing today at EACC Integrity Centre Police Station.
A video footage shows officer Mbugua wailing to the officers upon being arrested but his attempts to resist arrest were futile.
Mbugua's ammunition was also confiscated and handed over to the OCS EACC Police Station.
