Businesses in the Embu Town CBD opened as usual with no signs of demonstrators anywhere. There was however much reduced vehicular and human traffic compared to other market days.
The usual hustle and bustle around the main bus stops that are also near the fresh produce markets was missing as the usual market goers perhaps chose to monitor the situation from their homes.
Embu bus stage that caters for Nairobi and Nyeri bound travellers was a virtual parking lot as few matatus were leaving for various destinations.
At the NENO Sacco berth the four passengers in the loading matatus said they had sat there for three hours and the vehicle wasn't filling up.
"It is like travellers fear the possibility of getting caught up in trouble in Nairobi", Justin Muriithi told KNA.
He added that he was monitoring the situation in Nairobi CBD on social media and if he learned there was trouble he would alight at Ruiru and find other means to his Ruiru home.
