The high court has finally put an end to the 8 year succession battle that followed an 5billion Estate left behind by Modern Coast Tycoon the late Shayid Pervez. The late Shayid was shot and killed in Changamwe on July 11,2014 as he travelled from Momba's Moi international Airport. Two months after Shahid's death, his second wife, Regine Bhutt moved to court and filed a succession case at the High Court. Part of the suits by Regine Butt  argued that her children were legal dependants and beneficiaries, she sought to get the accounting statements of the husband's properties and also wanted to be paid Ksh1.5 million monthly from the bank accounts and proceeds from the profits of the family businesses. The court case seen by Justice Erick Ogola,Njoki Mwangi and Patrick O ruled that the property will be divided among the two widows and their children. The list of companies owned by the late Shayid Pervez include;Blue Bell Properties, Modern Coast Builders & Constructors, Pribhai Jivanjee and Company, and Vantage Point Clearing and Forwarding and the Modern Coast Road Transporters, Vantage Road Transporters, Modern Coast Express, and Modern Coast Courier. The judges ruling stated that Pervez’ first wife Akhtar Butt and her son Haroon Butt were granted 6.25% and 35% respectively. And his other widow , Regine Butt was also granted 6.25% while her two children who are minors got 17% and 35%.The court also ordered that seven plots of land be allocated to them in the same proportion. The court also said they will provide a system of division for the property that they may have left out . “In accordance with the Muslim Law, Regine Butt and Haroon Butt be and are hereby appointed trustees of such bequests (property) as have been made herein in favour of the deceased’s children (two minors),” The court had however denied a plea put forth by their Grandmother Roseline Ostertag to be appointed as a trustee of the property. .The son Haroon is known to have run managerial roles for most of the companies that the father owned and most of his property.
