Mombasa businessman and philanthropist Hasmukh Patel has passed away aged 58, his family confirmed on Thursday, 29 August, 2024.
Patel, the driving force behind Mombasa Cement Limited was a strong pillar of the coastal counties of Mombasa and Kilifi.
The business mogul dedicated a huge part of his life in giving back to the underprivileged, and marginalized members of the community in the two counties and beyond.
Those who knew him say his legacy extended far beyond the business world, as he was known for his unwavering commitment to social causes and his active participation in various community affairs.
Through numerous charitable initiatives, he provided vital resources and opportunities to those in need, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives.
His generosity knew no boundaries, and his efforts to improve the lives of others earned him deep respect and admiration within and beyond the coastal region.
In his condolence message, Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir Shariff said the late businessman will be remembered for his generosity which knew no boundaries, terming him a great friend. He said his death is a great loss.
"We have learned with sadness of the passing of businessman Hasmukh ‘Hasuu’ Patel of Mombasa Cement Limited in Mombasa. Mr. Patel will be remembered for his active participation in society affairs in Mombasa as well as his generous support for the underprivileged," said Abdulswamad Nassir Shariff.
"I take this opportunity on behalf of the County Government of Mombasa to offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the departed. We will stand with you during this difficult time," Nassir added.
Kilifi county boss Gideon Munga'ro was not left behind.
“He was a respected family man who always supported and cared for his community. My thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones, friends, and colleagues as they navigate through this difficult time."
