The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has summoned Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria over elections rigging claims.
This is after the lawmaker while addressing the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Delegates Congress (NDC) at the KLasarani Indoor Arena, claimed that they rigged elections in favour of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
IEBC's Code of Conduct Enforcement Committee in a letter dated Saturday, March 26, 2022, the commission summoned Kuria to appear on March 30.

"You are hereby required to attend the Offices of the Commission at Anniversary Towers, Commission Boardroom 6th floor on Wednesday the 30th day of March 2022 at 10:00 o'clock in the forenoon for examination by the Electoral Code of Conduct Enforcement Committee over utterances you made while addressing delegates at the UDA party National Delegates Convention held at the Kasarani Gymnasium Arena on 15th March 2022," the IEBC letter read in part.
The commission further revealed that it had received claims that the lawmaker's utterances subverted Clause 6 (a) and 6(1) of the Electoral Code of Conduct.
While taking a swipe at President Kenyatta, Kuria stated that the brains that elevated him to head of state are in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
“The brains that made him President are her (at the NDC). He has taken his body only to Azimio la Umoja,” Kuria stated.
The legislator's remarks elicited mixed reactions from members of the public and leaders alike. A section demanded that IEBC summon and discipline the MP.
IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati in response to Kuria's sentiments assured Kenyans that the commission would summon the MP and take the necessary action.
