By Edith. O. Virginia The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has summoned Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria over elections rigging claims. This is after the lawmaker while addressing the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Delegates Congress (NDC) at the KLasarani Indoor Arena, claimed that they rigged elections in favour of President Uhuru Kenyatta. IEBC's Code of Conduct Enforcement Committee in a letter dated Saturday, March 26, 2022, the commission summoned Kuria to appear on March 30. The commission further revealed that it had received claims that the lawmaker's utterances subverted Clause 6 (a) and 6(1) of the Electoral Code of Conduct.
While taking a swipe at President Kenyatta, Kuria stated that the brains that elevated him to head of state are in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
“The brains that made him President are her (at the NDC). He has taken his body only to Azimio la Umoja,” Kuria stated. The legislator's remarks elicited mixed reactions from members of the public and leaders alike.  A section demanded that IEBC summon and discipline the MP. IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati in response to Kuria's sentiments assured Kenyans that the commission would summon the MP and take the necessary action.
