Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi’s woes continue to deepen with Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a joining the bandwagon demanding him to deliver and offer services to the electorate.

During an event to open key government projects in Thika graced by Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki yesterday, Ms Ng’ang’a told Wamatangi to get his act right by launching projects that help address the challenges facing the citizens of the County.

She said while the national government was delivering on its pre-lection pledges, Kiambu County government was slow, and that as leaders, they will not hesitate to call out the governor to deliver.

The MP cited the health sector among several other sectors which she described as ‘ailing’, saying since Wamatangi took over the leadership of the County; patients have continued to suffer due to lack of drugs and other essential services.

She said the Thika Level Five Hospital is a mess due to negligence, saying despite asking the governor to address the challenges that it has been facing, nothing has been forthcoming.

The legislator called on the Health Cabinet Secretary Dr Susan Nakhumicha to tour the hospital and bail out suffering patients.

She at the same time termed Wamatangi’s policies as misplaced, citing his recent programme of distributing chicks and pigs to women which she said added no value to the citizens.

She called on Wamatangi to shelve such less important projects and focus on provision of water, health and infrastructure among other more pressing challenges.

Recently, Wamatangi gave out more than 120,000 one-month-old improved chicks to women in some parts of the county as part of his economic empowerment programme.

“How can you give suffering citizens chicks and pigs to rear yet they cannot afford food and medical care. Where are your priorities? How will they afford to keep them? Shelve such priorities and go for the pressing ones,” she said.

She at the same time called on the Governor to stop PR gimmicks and touch base with the residents to understand their plight.

“Get out of the office and meet the people so that you understand what they are feeling. If the national government is delivering, we also expect the same of the County government,” said Ms Ng’ang’a.

MCAs Joakim Njama (Ngoliba) and Kennedy Mwangi Kentams (Thika Township) laid an onslaught against the governor saying his time is up for failing to listen to Mwananchi.

They said despite presenting several proposals on improving the status of the county to Wamatangi, the governor has not been keen to heed to their calls.

Kiambu MCAs have also been accusing Wamatangi of being a lone ranger and failing to involve them in matters that they can help solve in the county.

Wamatang’i has since been denying any wrong doing saying he was on track in addressing the challenges facing the Kiambu people and transforming the County into greater heights.
