The County government of Nairobi has launched the 2024 Bursaries and executive Scholarships funds to needy students in the county. 

Nairobi County Governor Johnstone Sakaja alongside his deputy DG Njoroge Muchiri flanked the event held on Saturday at the Nairobi Primary school. 

The Bursaries will benefit 124,100 students with 1,200 needy and bright Form 1 students will have their entire secondary school fees covered under the executive scholarship program.

The event comes a week after the Equity Group through its Foundation commissioned 1000 scholarship positions to bright and needy students as they joined secondary schools. 

The annual program dubbed the Equity Wings to Fly programme was graced by governor Johnstone Sakaja who noted that the County government is committed to adresses challanges facing needy students in Nairobi committing to set aside over 800 million to sponsor basic education for the students. 

Today's event was also graced by Nairobi Women Rep Esther M Passaris, OGW , Host MP Beatrice Elachi, Members of the County Executive and the Nairobi County Assembly together with students, parents and teachers.

"Our commitment to securing the future of the next generation is solid." Sakaja said in a statement. 

Nairobi Deputy Governor Dr. Njoroge Muchiri noted that investment in education will promote a better future for the students. 

"We are convinced that proper investment im education will accelerate progress towards a prosperous and sustainable future." Dr. Muchiri noted.
