Nairobi woman arrested after threatening cab driver with gun

Police officer based at Gigiri, Nairobi on Saturday, April9, arrested a woman in area after she allegedly threatened a cab driver using a gun. According to a statement by the National Police Service (NPS), the woman named Stella Waithera Kahigi hailed a cab from Freetown Loresho to her residence in Kangemi at around 0300 hours. Everything was reportedly okay until she arrived at her destination where a disagreement ensued over payment for the ride. She reportedly retreated to her house only to resurface with a gun, threatening to shoot the cab driver. “Stella entered into her house and came out armed with a pistol threatening to shoot the cab driver. The driver retreated and proceeded to Spring Valley police station and booked the incident. Officers rushed to the residence-turned-crime scene and recovered a Daisy revolver from the suspect,” NPS’ statement read in part. [Photo: Courtesy][/caption]Stella is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday to face charges related to misusing her firearm and threatening the driver. “We commend the cab driver for the prompt action he took that led to the recovery and arrest. Even as we strive to keep our streets safe, we also wish to advice members of the public to be wary of their personal safety as they go about their businesses,” NPS added.
