Babu Owino speaks on branding Jalang’o Ruto’s mole in ODM
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has dismissed a screenshot doing rounds on social media, claiming he said Lang’ata parliamentary hopeful Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o is Deputy President William Ruto’s mole in ODM party.
According to Babu Owino, the statement did not originate from him. He tagged it as fake news and urged fans to ignore it.
"This is pettiness. Fake," Babu Owino posted.
In the screenshot which has since gone viral, a manipulated Facebook account bearing Babu’s name accused Jalango of being a UDA mole in ODM.
“This boy called Jalango has been a mole in our camp, he's been leaking our plans and strategies to our opponents thinking we do not know.
“Thank you baba Jakom for smoking him out, let him be given a wheelbarrow by paymaster. We do not need comedians in Azimio,” the photo’s caption read.
The fake post elicited massive reactions as most netizens sought to know from Jalang’o whether it was authentic or not.
“We are in the Langata race to the end! August 9, 2022 is the day! No one has been denied the ticket and no one has been given! Forget the rumors,” Jalang’o said.
ODM National Election Board Chairperson Catherine Muma also weighed in on the claims, arguing that ODM is yet to pick any candidates in Nairobi.
“The ODM Party has not met to determine which candidates get its ticket in Nairobi. Being the electioneering period, candidates would use all manner of psychological warfare to try and arm-twist the party, let’s remain focused,” Muma said.
