Narok Governor Patrick Ntutu has commissioned the upgrading of 1,245 kilometers county roads ahead of the expected heavy rains in the county.

Speaking at Olonini area, Governor Ntutu said the construction of roads will ease transportation of goods to the market during the season of heavy rains.

He added that the county has used Sh.1.4 billion to purchase heavy machinery that will be used in the renovation of roads.

Among the projects in construction is Osanankururi Bridge along the Nkaretta road and culverts that cost the county government Sh.28.3 million.

“The weatherman has warned us that in the next two weeks, we shall have Elnino rains. This is why am going round to ensure that all the roads in the county are renovated,” he said.

He reiterated that Narok North has greatest challenge in terms of road network where the contractors will do a wider scope of job to ensure all the roads are passable during the rainy season.

“The contractor has advised me that in one day, he can open up 8 kilometers. This means the work can be completed before three months,” said the governor.

Narok County Assembly majority leader Dominic Lemain thanked the governor for the development projects saying the county government had set aside Sh.3 billion for development where each Member of County Assembly was allocated Sh. 100 million.

Lemain pledged to continue supporting the current administration so as to deliver services to the people who elected them in office.

Harrison Totona, a local resident, lauded Governor Ntutu for the development projects saying the people are enjoying the fruits of devolution.

Another resident Ms. Mary Naiguti said the construction of the roads will pave way to easy movement to hospitals and market places.
