As form one students report to various secondary schools countrywide, Monday, Sylvia Orogo from Kisii Central Sub-county in Kisii County is a worried student.

Her dream of joining Moi Siongoroi Girls' Secondary School in the neighboring Bomet County and eventually becoming a pilot, is slowly being shattered owing to the financial struggles that her parents are facing.

She sat for her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) at Boranyi DEB Primary School in the same Sub-county and scored 366 marks.

Speaking to KNA in Kisii town, Sylvia expressed her desire to join and complete secondary school and fulfill her dream despite the financial constraints.

“I am appealing to well-wishers to come out and help me report to school to secure a bright future for myself and rest assured, I will assist other needy students once I succeed in life,” said the needy student.

Her mother, Janet Orogo, pointed out that she is struggling financially, to provide the basic needs for Sylvia and her siblings because she does low-income jobs like working on people’s farms and picking tea to make ends meet.

Sylvia’s teacher, Beatrice Obwoge, who accompanied her to KNA offices described her as a bright and obedient student who had performed well in the KCPE exams.

She noted that Sylvia’s parents had struggled to take her through primary school and appealed to well-wishers, to help her further her studies and achieve her dreams.

Any assistance can be channeled to Sylvia’s mother via 0797695647.
