The Kipsoen Technical Training, Principal, Joseph Bittok, has called on youth to consider joining technical training institutes, irrespective of the grade they got in their secondary school education.
Bittok said technical training can be an alternative way to get to university, saying not all students can make it to university directly, adding that for others, the institutions offer skills which they can use to earn a living without necessarily pursuing university education.
Speaking during a career day at the institution to sensitize youths on the courses offered, the Principal said the skills taught will enable the youth to be self-employed.
We offer courses like mechatronics, electrical engineering, plumbing hair dressing and beauty therapy, which will enable one to be self-employed instead of looking for employment,” he said.
The Principal said since its inception in 2019, the institution has trained over 800 youth majority of who are able to earn a living through self-employment.
The Keiyo North Legislator (MP), Adams Kipsanai, said graduates from such institutions will be able to get employment through the many government projects, citing the Affordable Housing programme, which is being implemented countrywide.
He added that the NG-CDF had also embarked on a Sh.12 million project within Kipsoen TTI, which he said will require people with technical skills, citing masons, plumbers, electricians among others.
The MP said the technical training was not only admitting youths from the County, but from all over the country and therefore encouraged them to apply, saying it had the necessary equipment.
