A joyous inauguration ceremony took place at Kebere Secondary School in Gucha Kisii county as a seasoned assistant chief Eunice Magoma Mogire was promoted to a chief, marking a significant milestone in her career.

The ceremony, presided over by Gucha Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Esther Kungu, was attended by various government officials, community leaders and residents of the sub-county.

During her address, Kungu emphasized the importance of diligent service to the people.

She urged all government employees within the sub-county to work tirelessly for the betterment of the community.

Turning her attention to the newly appointed chief, she reminded her of the training she had received and encouraged her to provide timely and equitable services to the people under her jurisdiction.

"You must serve without bias, treating everyone with respect, regardless of their social status. This approach will foster peace and harmonious coexistence within your jurisdiction," she advised.

The DCC reminded Mogire that she represented the government's image in the area, bearing the responsibility of propagating government policies and programs, particularly in line with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

She highlighted the role of public forums like chief’s barazas in achieving this goal.

In a show of unity and commitment to the well-being of the community, Area Member of County Assembly (MCA) James Ondari pledged his support for the newly appointed chief.

Ondari expressed his readiness to collaborate with security agencies to combat the illicit production and consumption of locally brewed alcohol, commonly known as Chang’aa and the use of narcotics like bhang in the area.

The MCA stressed that eradicating drug menace was essential to ensuring the youth's productivity and the stability of marriages in the area.

"I stand ready to work with our security forces to eliminate the drug menace from our community,” Ondari stated firmly, reassuring the newly appointed chief of his unwavering support towards this endeavour.

Another MCA, Jeremiah Ongeri from the neighbouring ward also commended the government for upholding the gender rule.

He noted that Gucha sub county was now led by women, from the Deputy County Commissioner to all the assistant county commissioners, and now the newly appointed chief.

He praised this significant achievement in promoting gender diversity in leadership.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by various other government representatives from both the national and county levels, demonstrating the collective commitment to serving the people of Kisii County and promoting development in the region.
