Orange Democratic Movement Nominated Member of Parliament John Mbadi has told the government that overtaxing Kenyans is not the best way of solving the economic crisis.
Mbadi said this will see many Kenyans suffer more than usual since they are already going through hardships amidst high cost of living.
Mbadi made clar that Kenya Kwanza has another alternative of solving the issue of economic crisis and not overtaxing people.
In an interview today, the MP condemned the Kenya Kwanza for what he claimed as "over borrowing" of funds within a short period of time in the office.
Again, MP has criticized the Kenya Kwanza government for failing to listen to the cries from the public over the high cost of living which is caused by the skyrocketing of the prices of basic commodities.
Mbadi told the government that they would have reviewed and made changes in the budget before presenting it to the parliament.
"There is nothing that stopped Ruto from restructuring the entire budget. You could do it,"said Mbadi.
Mbadi agreed with Kenyans that the country is facing many problems in the economic crisis but the government has taken the wrong way of solving the problem.
"Let us face the facts, we are in a problem. We are in a crisis but the solution is not tax,"he argued.
The former leader of the minority in the National Assembly, has condemned the government for praising that the economy of the country is prospering.
The lawmaker has stated that the economy has worsened since President William Ruto took over the office.
He has warned the government that they will put the country into great crisis if not responding urgently to the cries of Kenyans.
“Where is the evidence that Kenya Kwanza is making progress towards helping this economy. Where is evidence that their first budget has increased or shot up by 544 billion shillings since Kenya Kwanza came into office on September 30th to March 31st they have borrowed 689 billion shillings,”MP Mbadi said.
In its first six months in office, President William Ruto's administration borrowed Sh17.4 billion more than his predecessor did, upending the strategy to pay off debt gradually.
