PLO Lumumba responds to Raila's secession threats
Azimio La Umoja One Kenya leader, Raila Odinga on Friday threatened to push for secession, over comments made by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua weeks ago.
Gachagua was quoted stating that the Kenya Kwanza government is like a company with shareholders, depending on who supported them during campaigns ahead of the August, 2022 polls.
Odinga wants President Ruto to denounce Gachagua's 'strong words' within 7 days or they write to the United Nations (UN), calling for self-determination.
“We will write to UN for self-determination so that every Kenyan community can feel completely they are part of the government,” Odinga declared.
He spoke in Yatta, Machakos County.
Lawyer Patrick Loch Otieno (PLO) Lumumba in a tweet called out Odinga, adding that Kenya must remain a one united country under the East Africa Community (EAC).
"It is most unfortunate that while citizens of goodwill are working towards EA Integration and African unity, some Kenyan Politicians are talking secession in their quest for political offices. This megalomania must be condemned," he wrote.
Additionally, Lumumba urged President Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza brigade to ensure that every Kenyan feels part of his administration, irrespective of political affiliation.
"The Kenya Kwanza Administration must be reminded that in multi-ethnic societies, it is dangerous to create the impression that ones ethnic origin is the badge of excellence to the detriment of merit garnished with diversity."
Odinga has contested the 2022 presidential election results.
