Rubis energy has come clean on social media reports that it is connected to the Kenyatta family, noting that it has no association whatsoever with the ruling family.
Over the past few days, Rubis energy has been a subject of discussion online following the fuel shortage that has hit the country.
While several petrol companies have shut down owing to the fuel shortage, Rubis outlets have been operating, prompting netizens to associate it with the ruling family.
However, in a statement on Monday, Rubis energy noted that the parent company and its subsidiaries in Kenya are not linked to the Kenyatta family in anyway, adding that such reports are mere propaganda that should be ignored completely.
“Rubis Kenya limited, and all our subsidiaries have no connection whatsoever with the Kenyatta family and consider this narrative to be callous propaganda and a weaponization of political narratives to disadvantage our business whilst promoting a competing gas business in which one of out leading “critics” has a significant stake,” Rubis said.
Explaining how it has managed to operate despite the fuel shortage, the company noted that it decided to release all the fuel it had including its reservoir in a bid to easen the fuel shortage crisis.
“Rubis Energy Kenya has endeavored to make the current situation as short and as unrestrictive as possible to its customers. We made a strategic decision not to hoard fuel and make all our stock including reserves available to Kenyans. Rubis Energy should be applauded for this, not demonized,” the company added.
Rubis says it is engaging its lawyers and could move to court to file defamation cases against those who painted the organisation in negative light.
