Investigations have been launched into an incident in which a police constable allegedly assaulted his boss in Ndhiwa Sub County.
Homa Bay County Police Commander Samson Kiine said reports indicate that the police officer who is attached to Pala Police Post in Ndhiwa Sub-county assaulted his boss by hacking him with a panga injuring his hand.
He said the injured officer identified as Kimutai Koech who is in charge of Pala Police Post was assaulted by a constable after they allegedly disagreed over a missing suspect who had been put in custody.
Kimutai noticed that a suspect who had been arrested and detained in their cell was missing.
When he went to the constable’s house to enquire whereabouts of the suspect the officer pounced on him
"Kimutai failed to get a convincing answer on the whereabouts of the suspect. When he insisted on knowing more about how the suspect got out of the cell, the police constable got incensed, reached for panga and pounced on him," Kiine said.
Kimutai said the officer intended to cut his head with the panga but he shielded himself with his right hand and sustained a deep cut on his palm.
He was rushed to Pala Health Centre bleeding profusely and was treated and discharged.
Kiine said the constable officer was arrested and taken to Ndhiwa Police Station.
He said the arrested officer will face legal action upon completion of the investigations.
“Investigations are going on. The arrested officer will be charged in court,” Kinne said.
