A 38-year Boda bonda operator was Sunday evening killed by a mob at Kumbatha village in Suba South constituency on accusations of engaging in a love affair with a pastor’s wife.
The deceased identified as Wilson Onjiro was allegedly killed by angry villagers who were mobilized by the woman's husband accusing the operator of engaging in a sexual relationship with his wife.
Villagers affirmed Onjiro had been sneaking into the priest's house to sleep with his wife whenever he (the husband) was away for prayer meetings.
Last Sunday, the cleric went for a prayer meeting at Sindo trading center but unexpectedly returned home in the evening.
To his shock, he found Onjiro in the act with his wife as he allegedly routinely did when he was away.
“Onjiro was cornered in the house by angry villagers after the pastor raised an alarm. The villagers pounced on him with crude weapons killing him on the spot,” a witness said.
The area Chief Andrew Ombisa confirmed the incident saying Onjiro had allegedly been bedding the priest’s wife for some time.
Ombisa added the villagers arrived at the pastor’s home thinking he was being attacked by criminals.
“He has been taking advantage of the situation when the priest is away for gospel missions. On Sunday night, the boda boda rider is said to have gone into the priest’s home while drunk. The pastor made distress calls and neighbors alerted others. When they arrived, they descended on the rider and eventually killed him,” the chief added.
The administrator said the victim’s body was dragged from the priest’s compound and dumped adjacent to the fence of Kumbatha primary school.
The matter was reported at Magunga police station for further investigations.
Suba Deputy County Commissioner Sebastian Okiring said they are looking for the killers and asked the villagers who know the whereabouts of the pastor and wife to report to them.
“The priest, wife and children fled home after the murder incident. We’re looking for them,” the administrator said.
