Rashford ruled out of Manchester United, Sevilla clash

Marcus Rashford has been ruled out of Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final clash, pitying his Manchester United side against Spanish La Liga side, Sevilla.

United will welcome Sevilla at Old Trafford for the first leg, before the second leg is played in Seville next week.

Rashford will be unavailable because of a muscle injury.

He was withdrawn in the 80th minute during Manchester United's Premier League encounter against Everton on Saturday.

The Red Devils won 2-0.

The red-hot striker who has a return of 28 goals for United in all competition this season, will miss a few games, before he makes a comeback towards the end of the season.

This is according to a statement from the Club.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag expressed optimism that other players will step up during Rashford’s absence.

"We have many more players across the squad who can score,” said the Dutch tactician.

In Rashford’s absence, Anthony Martial is expected to shoulder goal scoring duties.

He capped his return to the squad with a goal against Everton on Saturday, after long spells out nursing injuries. He meets his former side after spending some time with Sevilla on loan.

"I think we have players like Bruno, like Jadon Sancho, like Anthony Martial, like Scott McTominay, like Anthony,” added Ten Hag.

Christian Eriksen is back in contention after returning from a lengthy injury lay off.

United are also expected to welcome back midfielder Casemiro.

The Brazilian missed past three Premier League matches, plus an FA quarterfinal clash against Fulham due to suspension.

United felt vulnerable in the middle of the park, during his absence.
