Citizen TV correspondent lands top job in governor Lusaka's administration

The exodus of journalists from mainstream media to occupy positions in both the national and county government seems to be the order of the day.

On Wednesday, April 12th, 2023, Bungoma governor Ken Lusaka announced a series of appointments with Cheptai Namisi landing one of the positions.

Namisi is now the Media Liaison Relations Officer in Lusaka's administration. Until then, Namisi was Citizen TV's correspondent in Bungoma County.

Interestingly, the seasoned journalists had gone to cover announcement of new appointees by the governor, when his name was mentioned.

Attention quickly turned to him as collegues congradulated him.

Additionally, the former Senate Speaker appointed the following as Chief Officers pending approval by the County Assembly:

1.Nicholas Kiboi - Education (Mt Elgon)

2.Reuben Wambwa - Trade, Energy and Industrialization (Kanduyi)

3.Dr Magrina Mayama - Health (Webuye West)

4.Everlyne Wekesa -Public Service (Sirisia)

5.Robert Simiyu - Agriculture (Kanduyi)

6.Beatrice Nakhumicha -Cooperatives (Kabuchai)

He picked Agnes Wachie as the gender, sports, youths and culture County Executive Committee Member (CECM) to replace Nancy Kibaba, who was recently appointed Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the national government.

Other appointments made by the second term County boss are:

1. Director infrastructure Lake Region Economic Block (LREB), Moses wamalwa (Kimilili)

2. Advisor, Public Relations, Leonard Mayende (Kanduyi)

3. Advisor, Public Relations, Sween Khayanga (Tongaren)

4. Deputy Director, Special Programs, Peter Cherui Ndiema (Mt. Elgon)

5.Deputy Chief of Staff, Mourice Simiyu Nyaranga Lusaka first served as Bungoma governor from 2013 to 2017.
