Ronaldo's new YouTube channel hits a record 1 million subscribers in just 90 minutes

Superstar Christiano Ronaldo's new YouTube channel is the fastest to reach 1 million followers, hitting the mark in just 90 minutes. 

Ronaldo's channel was launched on Wednesday afternoon and features a sleek logo design - with the UR appearing like his CR initials followed by a play button.

In a short one-minute taster to introduce his followers into the channel, a laughing Ronaldo looked in high spirits as he revealed that his channel bids to connect with his supporters worldwide.

"I have a big surprise for you, the new YouTube channel" he said.

His content will delve into subjects away from his career on the pitch with numerous clips already filmed with his partner Georgina Rodriguez and their children. 

The 39-year-old will also interview a host of mystery guests. 

The channel's bio cleverly told viewers to 'SIUUUbscribe and join the CR7 family' in a nod to Ronaldo's now iconic goal celebration often repeated by crowds.

Nine videos have been uploaded so far. They include a 'Meet Georgina', a free-kick challenge with his son and a 'This or That' selection which sees Ronaldo choosing between iconic athletes such as Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods.

"I am very happy to make this project come to life. It has been in my mind for a long time but finally we have the opportunity to make it real." Ronaldo said. 

" I have always enjoyed having such a strong relationship with fans on social media and my YouTube channel will give me an even bigger platform to do so and they will learn more about me, my family and my views on many different subjects.

I am looking forward to sharing conversations with guests that will surprise people!" he added. 

The Channel adds to his list of social media platforms with millions of followers. 

Ronaldo commands a whooping 636 million followers on Instagram, making him the most followed person on the platform and the most followed athlete. 

He was also the first person to hit half-a billion followers on Instagram with Argentine Superstar, Lionel Messi recently reaching the mark(504 million) . 

He also commands a whooping 110.8 million followers on Twitter and 170 million followers on Facebook making him the most followed person on the meta platform.
