Muslims across the country are celebrating Eid-ul-Adha, otherwise known as the feast of sacrifice.
During this day, Muslims mark the honour and willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ishmael, as an act of obedience to God's command.
However, before Abraham could sacrifice his son, God provided him with a lamb to sacrifice instead.
In his message to the Muslim community in the country, President William Ruto said Eid-ul-Adha is a celebration of faith and obedience.
"Eid-ul-Adha is a celebration of sacrifice, faith and obedience to the will of Allah," said the president.
"May this blessed day inspire these spiritual virtues in hearts of all Muslims, and also bring joy, peace and blessings."
"To all our Muslim brothers and sisters, in Kenya, and around the World, I wish you a joyous Eid ul Adha! EID Mubarak," said Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Defense Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aden Duale on his part prayed that Muslims have a joyous celebration.
"May your faith and love for Allah be rewarded with peace, happiness and success for today and always. Wishing you a joyful Eid-ul-Adha."
"Eid Mubarak," wrote Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
The day is marked by slaughter if animals such as goats, sharing with the less privileged in society, and visiting those in hospitals and prison.
